My Friend Shannon

I have this friend called Shannon and she is amazingly talented and organized (oh to have her organization gene!) and has been creating patterns for her creations. She moved 1.5 hours away from me a couple of years ago (boo hoo for me) but we still keep in touch online and with the occasional in person visit.

She has just published her first quilt pattern and is having a giveaway of said pattern to celebrate! You can enter HERE.

Isn't it lovely? She shot this photo on a fence on their property - they live on the most glorious patch of acre upon acre in the country...

I also love love LOVE her Oxford Owl pattern HERE...he's absolutely adorable!

I'm in two minds as to whether or not to tell you to enter, as I want to win, but she would love the visitors to her blog. She's an architect by trade, a fantastic graphic designer, and right now a stay at home Mom just like me! She totally deserves to have more readers. Her blog is always full of free patterns and great ideas! So go and give her some love xx

Twill

There's a new quilt shop in this little town of mine called Twill (find it HERE) and I'm over the moon about it! It's only a 5 minute drive from my house and I believe I've been there 3 times in the last 3 weeks. Best of all, they sell my kind of fabric, which in these parts is a rarity. Yippee! It's called Twill and is large, spacious, and modern.

There is a great cozy area up the front with couches and a coffee table which is usually filled with knitters stitching away, however, when I dragged hubby there last Friday on his day off, he was the sole person on the couches. I shopped and well, he did this...

I think it's the best advertising for the store - I mean, they can say something like, "Our store is so great, even your husband will enjoy it!"

Here are the owners above, Susan on the left who is the resident expert about fabric and sewing, and Sandy on the right who is the resident expert on yarn! Susan and Sandy are so friendly and welcoming and make you feel like an old friend. I'm excited to go to their Friday project nights, where you can take along whatever you're working on and have fun with other like-minded people. All for free! They also have classes which look interesting for both sewers and yarn enthusiasts. You can check out their website HERE and their Facebook page HERE

I know it sounds like an advertorial, but I swear, I am receiving no form of compensation for this post - I am just so thrilled to have a quilt shop that I enjoy close to me!

That Day of Love

Oh yes folks, love is in the air! I wish you all a wonderful Valentines Day - whether you are with a significant other, or by yourself, it's not just about being in love - it's about showing love to those around you. Cheesy, yes, but acts of service and love do make a difference!

A Blizzard Called Nemo

So has anyone heard of a teeny little snow storm that came to New England this weekend? It hit us and hit hard! Now that the snow has stopped and the sun is out, it is, however, SO beautiful! My Sofia wanted to go play in the snow - the boys had no interest in getting wet and cold, but I'm sure they won't be able to resist for too long! Oh, and just to make it quilt related, what do you think I used to measure the snow? My quilt ruler of course! I measured in one of the shallower spots, where the wind had blown a lot away, because I knew my ruler was too short for anywhere else!
And onto Sofia...

Progress and a Favor

Hello friends! Thought I'd check in and let you know I'm still alive and still quilting! We haven't had a TV in our living room for a year but we put it back in there the other day, so last night I brought up a daylight lamp, put it next to the couch, sat my butt down with some applique, turned on American Idol and after watching it for 2 hours, I had appliqued a bunch of leaves and some hearts. Boy have I missed doing that!
Now for the favor part - a friend of mine, Laurie, is a finalist in a contest by Andover Fabrics, and needs more votes to win. She's currently in 2nd place so it's totally within reach! If each of you reading even just 'liked' her quilt, it would be a landslide victory! Her quilt is gorgeous as you can see below, and she absolutely deserves to win! Just go to THIS link, https://pinterest.com/andoverfabrics/your-andover-finalists/ and either 'like' her photo, or repin it, or both - everything counts! Thanks so much - quilty friends are the best!
*UPDATE* Wow my readers are the BEST! Laurie's 'likes' and 'repins' have jumped dramatically! She has a real shot at winning this - it's so close! If you haven't voted yet, please do!
