The Leaf
Another mini quilt for my quilt gallery wall is done! I felt like playing with some strips of fabric, so I used my rotary cutter and cut freehand strips, making them wonky on purpose. Sewed them together, then drew a very basic leaf shop on my new piece of strippy fabric. I then machine stitched on the drawn line before cutting it out to give it some stability. Glue basting to the background was next, (isn't that background fabric just perfect for the subject matter?!!) followed by needleturn applique.I quilted it with more leaves and loops. A nice simple mini-quilt that was fun and easy to make!
I am nowhere up to date with my goal of a mini-quilt per week. I think I should kick things into overdrive and do a couple a week until I catch up!
The quilt gallery wall is slowly coming along....

Are the kids noticing yet? It's really looking nice....
The leaf is really cool... I may have to steal your idea and make a pillow for my bed... I have all grass green and white and it would sure punch things up...
First I have to machine quilt a little baby quilt...
Ok, but Joanna, if you really did a mini-quilt/week, would you actually want 52 mini-quilts up on your wall? I say do one every 3rd week, then periodically do a pillow (until you at least 4 for your bed and 4 for your sofa) and then do a few of those gorgeous quilted pouches and so forth. Give yourself a break, your wall looks fantastic. AND the quilting on the leaf is divine!
What a great idea for someone like me who wants to learn to machine quilt! I end up with a cute mini quilt and I'm learning to machine quilt - love it!
The leaf mini is fabulous. And yes that background fabric is perfect.
BTW how do you hang your little minis? One of these days I'm going to make me a wall of mini quilts.
Joanna, Looks fantastic! Your quilting is great! Well done! Luv your wall!
Well I love it. What a great idea. It is perfect. And the wall is turning out lovely.
I can do that... but I just don't want to, LOL!
Showoff!=P
I love your leaf quilt, your wall is looking fabulous so far. Wow, one a week is a task. One a month would be me, I'm slow.
my gosh the back of the quilt is as pretty as the front. Really lovely!
Love the funky leaf!! And the quilting is great too!
That leaf is so effective visually- simple, clean lines, and interesting without being 'too much'. Its a lovely idea, and I really like your quilting too. I'm just beginning to work on my machine quilting so now I have an idea of what I'm looking at when I see other folks's. Maybe in a hundred years my leaf quilting would look like yours, at present I'm really good at bird's nests!!
I love the leaf, and especially after seeing the back side of the quilting! I also love your quilt wall. Great idea!
You are doing great. With 3 kids
I am surprised you get anything done. Keep up the great projects.

OOoh your mini quilts are looking fabulous, I love the leaf one. Your quilting on it is perfect. Great idea to have a mini quilt wall, I especially like that they are all different sizes! xo
Your quilt wall is indeed coming along very beautifully. Your green quilt reminds me of those paper paintings done in one color which I viewed at a gallery several years back. It's gorgeous.
