Spring Flower Leaf

After all the hussle and bussle of the weekend I thought I'd do some simple sewing today. I cut out and started appliqueing a leaf on my Spring Flowers quilt. I have also cut other leaves for the the other flowers, and as you can see, have added a vine under the vase. Oh did I mention I appliqued on the vase late last week?! There will of course be some leaves and perhaps berries on the vine.

Even though I have been appliqueing for years, it never ceases to amaze me how different the shapes look before being turned under, and then after. Take these two leaves for example...

Totally different! You really have to ignore the bulkiness when you place shapes, and try to imagine where the final lines will lay.

It is interesting to see your fabric choices and how they work so well in the applique block.
