I finally have the sashings on this thing - I used a Kona Cotton (Tarragon) and the grey/white dot. It definitely needed the calming influence of the Kona! Now I just need to baste it and decide how to quilt it. Any ideas? I don't want to do any in-the-ditch quilting. I think something simple like just plain rows might work. Suggestions welcome!
I feel good about plain rows...I can see it with vertical lines about 3/4" apart!
ReplyDeleteHey Joanna, That top sure does look cute! My only question is, are you doing straight line quilting (as opposed to something more custom) because this is a class sample and you need it done? If that is the case, mark yourself a line diagonally, corner to corner, and quilt on the marked line and then make the rest of your lines the width of your walking foot and you be done lickety-split. Have fun and happy quilting!
ReplyDeleteStipple it, stipple it...it'll show those newbies they can never make it look as good as yours, LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh wait...that was MY last teacher, LOL! Which pretty much explains why I am always looking to "ship out" anything larger than a napkin, hahaha
Love the quilt! Any quilting design will look great!
ReplyDeleteDid you want to do all over or each block differently? The first pattern I look at for all over for a geometric design is baptist fans and hey, big stitch would suit this top. I'm all about the big stitch in perle cotton at the moment, lol.
ReplyDeleteIf you can do it by yourself, I say any way you can do it is great!
ReplyDeleteHi from NZ!!. I say keep it simple to encourage the beginners to get it finished!! My first sampler quilt is still sitting there waiting for me to finish the hand quilting on...it is what we were told to do but rather a big job, especially when you get bit by the bug and want to make heaps more. Straight lines with not too much ruling!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous top .. I love all the black polka dot accents.
