One Hour Friday

Tonight I'm showing you one of my very favorite one hour projects - quilted framed monograms. I have blogged about them before, here, here, here, here and here.

Phew that's a lot of 'heres"! If you don't want to go look at all those links, here are some pics from them...

I make these for most friends that have babies, and sometimes for my daughter's friends birthdays. They don't take too long to make, but look so great!

If you hand applique the letters they will obviously take longer, but you can also just use fusible web and stitch near the edge of the letter, which will hold it securely. Another thing that makes them so quick to make is that you don't bind them. Just cut them to the size of your frame, put them in, and you're done!

I made this letter 'L' for my friend Rachel who is soon to have a baby girl called Liberty...

Rachel's baby shower was so lovely, and everything was decorated in the colors of the baby room - black and cream. Even the plates, napkins, and cupcake wrappers!

Look at the baby's crib area - don't you wish you were a baby so you could sleep there?!

I knew I had to do her framed letter in black and cream but do you think I could find anything that would work in my stash? I had nothing that was both black and cream! I did have a perfect damask print, but it was black and white, which just would not work. So out came the herbal tea and I tea dyed it. It made the world of difference! Here are the two pieces side by side so you can see the difference a little tea dying can make...

Isn't Rachel the cutest pregnant woman ever?!

Joanna you are so sweet! I adore my letter L... It looks absolutely PERFECT in the nursery. I love the whole idea of doing these for baby shower gifts, they are personalized and homemade- the best combo ever!

Your framed monograms are very cute, it is always good to get ideas for quick and not too expensive presents! I have quilted and knitted for my grandson's friends, but as they get older, the birthday parties get more frequent.
